San Francisco City Hall has been on our radar to shoot at for years and we finally had the opportunity. You remember these two from their EPIC surprise proposal last year! They invited us up to the Bay Area where they’re from to capture their engagement session. The date was set, plans were made, and our adventure began! We drove the few hours into San Francisco, so thankful for GPS who took us through the not-so-glamorous areas of the city, but was quick. Even the simple task of finding parking in the big city wasn’t easy, but we had made it. Snapchatting the world around us, we walked right up to the front doors of City Hall. Grinning from ear to ear, it was gorgeous. The history, the architecture, made us feel like we had stepped back in time, and found our little slice of the East Coast right here at home. What wasn’t so thrilling was the sign that read “Closed for a private event.” What? Our hearts just sunk. We had called and done our homework, what was happening? Not only did we feel we were letting our clients down, but what on earth were we going to do? We were right in the midst of downtown San Francisco rush hour traffic, horns honking, voices yelling, and all of a sudden we felt very small and the world was engulfing us. We took a deep breathe, focused on our backup plan, and called Shane.
“Instead of using the inside of the San Francisco City Hall, why don’t we use the outside of the surrounding buildings?” That was our pitch. We had quickly run the two city blocks, scouring the area for portrait locations, camera gear in tow. It was a beautiful area and we knew we could make it work. Silvina and Shane were troopers. They trusted us, and boy are we glad, because this is one of our favorite sessions to date! Oh my friends, I know this post has A LOT more photos that we normally post, but we couldn’t help it. One after another we had another favorite, and by the time we were done, it was pure magic. From the streets of San Francisco, to sunset at Baker Beach, these two were amazing, and we loved every second we spent together!
